Census 2027 House Listing Begins in Telangana
Karnan said the data would not be used for tax or any other purpose. He said respondents should not worry about simple questions such as on vehicle ownership and the brands.

Hyderabad: The house listing operations (HLO) for Census 2027 commenced on Monday and will continue till June 9 across the state. Officials said the online self‑enumeration process ended on May 10, with 1.27 lakh households in the core urban region economy (CURE), covering the capital and its surroundings, successfully completing entries online.
On the first day, enumerators visited their allotted areas, drew maps and prepared action plans. Alongside municipal staff, they verified house listing block (HLB) boundaries using geo‑tagged landmarks and Census maps, identified buildings and census houses, and began systematic numbering as per guidelines.
In some areas, including NBT Nagar in Banjara Hills and Amberpet, enumerators uploaded details directly and cross‑checked household submissions. GHMC commissioner R.V. Karnan, principal census officer, inspected operations at NBT Nagar.
Karnan said the data would not be used for tax or any other purpose. He said respondents should not worry about simple questions such as on vehicle ownership and the brands. “People should co-operate without any hesitation,” he said.
From Tuesday, building and Census house numbers will be marked on entrances to aid uniform identification. Enumerators will also prepare detailed layout maps of HLBs, noting roads, streets, landmarks, vacant sites and public buildings.
After boundary verification and numbering, data collection through the HLO mobile application will begin Wednesday. The exercise, running till June 9, covers the 33 questions on se.census.gov.in, including building use, household particulars, amenities and housing details.
Elsewhere, officials and volunteers took part in a walkathon on the PV Narasimha Rao Marg to create awareness of the Census operations. Director of Census Bharati Hollikeri emphasised the importance of providing accurate data and active public participation in the exercise for effective planning and nation-building.
Population enumeration is scheduled for February 9–28, 2027. “June 9, 2027 is the last date for completion of Census, but we expect to finish by June 1. A total of 21,773 enumerators and 3,402 supervisors, amounting to 25,175 personnel, were trained in 693 batches for this task,” Karnan said at a press conference.
