While the Ramappa temple is on the global map as a Unesco world heritage site, the story of the Kota Gulla temple is one of local involvement at keeping thins going.

Former sarpanch N. Devendhar told Deccan Chronicle that both Ramappa and Kota Gullu temples were built by the Kakatiya kings. While Ramappa temple got Unesco recognition, Kota Gulla temple, just 9 km away, was neglected.
