Chief Secretary reviews events marking Formation Day celebrations

Hyderabad: Chief Minister A. Revanth Reddy will release the state’s official anthem, ‘Jaya Jayahe Telangana’, to the tunes of a police band on June 2, commemorating the State Formation Day at the parade ground in Secunderabad. He will also release the emblem which is undergoing modifications.

Chief Secretary Santhi Kumari conducted a review meeting to take stock of the arrangements for the June 2 festivities with Director General of Police Ravi Gupta and senior officers at the Secretariat here on Monday. They later visited the Parade Ground at Secunderabad where the official celebrations will be held.

Santhi Kumari in a press note said that prior to unveiling the anthem and the emblem, Revanth Reddy will pay tributes to statehood martyrs at the Martyrs Stupam in Gun Park.

She said that a multi-hued carnival showcasing all art forms native to the state will be organised on Tank Bund from 7 pm to 9 pm. Around 5,000 staff members will be part of the police band. Nearly 80 stalls have been put up on the Tank Bund stretch, which include those set up by eateries, handicrafts, handlooms and self-help groups.

Apart from organising sports events for children in a makeshift recreation hall, the day’s programme includes cultural performances, a fireworks display and a laser show, the release said.
