Chilkur Balaji Brahmotsavam Begins April 7

Hyderabad: The annual Brahmotsavam at the Chilkur Balaji Temple will take place from Monday to 14. The ceremonies will begin on the evening of April 7 with the Ankurarpanam, where seeds are sown to symbolise fertility and abundance. The main event, the Dwajarohanam, will be held on April 8, marking the official start of the celebrations.

The Kalyanotsavam has been scheduled on April 10, Rathotsavam April 12, Ashwavahanam April 13 and Chakrasnanam on April 14. Devotees can also see daily homas and processions around the temple during this time.

Temple authorities said that ‘Garuda Prasadam’, which was especially given to childless women, will not be distributed in April. It will be made available at 9 am on Fridays from May. for the rest of the year.

Temple priest C.S. Rangarajan stated that this decision was made after witnessing a massive turnout on April 19 last year. Thousands had received the prasadam last year.

The Brahmotsavam will conclude on April 14 with the Chakrasnanam ceremony, where the Sudarshana Chakra is bathed in a nearby water body. The Garuda flag will then be lowered, marking the end of the festival.
