CID registers cases against hospitals and agents for CMRF frauds
Hyderabad: Officials from Crime Investigation Department (CID) registered cases against private hospital managements and agents for allegedly siphoning off government funds by submitting fake and forged documents related to Chief Minister's Relief Fund (CMRF) in the last few years.
Confirming that the CID had received a complaint from CMRF office, revenue officials said that they have conducted an audit in connection with the cheques that have been issued based on requests from several people over the past few years. It was found that several hospital managements had colluded with agents and created fake bills, patient details including K-Sheets and submitted them for CMRF assistance.
During the BRS rule, there was no proper verification and the then government sanctioned applications seeking CMRF assistance. The total value of funds that have been misused is yet to be ascertained by the government and the investigation agency.
The CID has registered cases against Hiranya Hospital, Meerpet; Delta Hospital, Hastinapuram; Sri Raksha Hospital, BN Reddy nagar; MMS Hospital, Sagar ring road; ADRM Hospital, Ramanthapur; MMV Indira Hospital, Kothapet; Sri Sai Tirumala Hospital, Biaramalguda, their employees and some private individuals.
The individuals conspired with the hospital authorities by creating fake bills, documents and forged documents of K-sheets, while mentioning wrong diseases. All these documents were submitted to the government seeking CMRF financial assistance. The officials issued cheques and en-cashed such amounts.
Based on the details submitted by the CMRF office, revenue division and CID officials registered cases and started collecting details of patients on whose names CMRF cheques were issued. The officials also started collecting details of hospitals and K-Sheet details of patients, admission dates, treatment and other such information s from the hospitals.
Sources said that the CID officials also registered several FIRs in connection with the offences that took place in districts. After obtaining the complete details and making appropriate inquiry, CID officials would initiate action.
