Clash Erupts Over Mutton Curry at Wedding Feast, Many Hurt

Nizamabad: A clash broke out between two groups of people over a serving of mutton curry at a wedding in Navipet mandal headquarters. Several people were injured in the incident. Navipet police registered a case against 19 persons including women.

The bride was from Navipet while the groom was from Badguna village in Nandipet mandal on Wednesday. Both the families shared the expenses and arranged a lunch. However, a few relatives complained of discrimination when mutton was served.

The catering staff refused to serve mutton as per the wish of the guests. A few guests, who were allegedly drunk, demanded more mutton.

One man reportedly attacked the catering staff with utensils, sparking in a full-blown clash between the two groups with utensils and sticks. Even stones were pelted. Some guests were injured and shifted to Navipet primary health centre.

Following a complaint, police went to the spot and dispersed the warring factions.

Speaking to Deccan Chronicle on Thursday, Navipet sub-inspector K. Vinay said they registered a case against 19 persons. “We are identifying the other accused and no one has been arrested so far,” he said, adding condition of the injured is out of danger.
