CM Calls for Revamp of Gram/Ward Sachivayalams
Vijayawada: Chief Minister Nara Chandrababu Naidu has called for a revamp of the Gram Sachivalayams and Ward Sachivalayams to make these more efficient and helpful to the people.
Naidu on Monday held a review of the functioning of the GSWS department on Monday and discussed ways to make these entities more accessible to the people.
The officials proposed a revamp of the existing system of gram and ward Sachivalayams. The meeting deliberated on ways to reorganise the employees of these. “Some employees are burdened with more work while some are not having much work to do,” the officials said.
The meeting heard a proposal for providing training to these employees to make their services to the people more efficient.
Officials reeled out statistics. They said, “For 13,291-gram sachivalayams, there are only 11,162 sachivayalams. As for gram/ward sachivayalams, these total 15,004 with 1,19,803 employees. At present, 1,27,175 empoyees including some from other departments are working in gram/ward sachivayalams. Of them, 95,533 are working in gram sachivayalams and 31,592 inward sachivayalams.”
As for the age group of employees, those between 18 to 27 years are 50,284 (39.54 per cent) and those from 28-37 years are 54,774 (43.07 per cent). Among them, some employees did even PhD, PG, medicine and engineering courses. Nearly 14 per cent of them did their post graduation course and above while 31 per cent had attended vocational courses.
