CM Revanth Reddy lends helping hand to orphaned Durga

Hyderabad:Chief Minister A. Revanth Reddy lent a helping hand to an 11-year old girl, M. Durga, who was orphaned after her mother died by suicide. Single parent M. Gangamani, 36, from Beltaroda village of Tanur mandal in Nirmal district took the extreme step on Saturday night, leaving Durga alone. The girl was forced to beg to perform the last rites of her mother and the villagers pitched in to help.

Responding after the issue came to his notice on Monday, Revanth Reddy directed Nirmal collector Abhilash Abhinav to take care of the girl's educational, medical and other needs. Durga will be admitted in a Gurukul school where she will be provided free education, the collector said.

Minister Komatireddy Venkat Reddy announced `1 lakh assistance to the girl with whom he spoke over a video call. He promised to take care of her studies and provide her a house. Minister Danasari Anasuya Seethakka responded to the incident and promised `50,000 help to the girl.

Meanwhile, many children, who underwent surgeries for hearing impairment with the support of the government, expressed their gratitude to the Chief Minister by tying him a rakhi on Monday.

The hearing impairment problem among children up to five years can be solved through surgery.

Ever since he assumed office in December 2023, Reddy has been extending required help for the treatment of children suffering from hearing problems.

On his instructions, the Government ENT hospital at Koti started performing cochlear implant surgeries in large numbers. The state government is also supporting those who underwent expensive surgeries and provided hearing aids through LOC and CMRF. The AVT (Auditions Verbal Therapy) is also being provided for a year along with free hearing aids after the treatment.

Accompanied by ENT Hospital superintendent Anand Acharya and Dr D.K. Veena, children, who underwent surgeries, came to the Secretariat and thanked Revanth Reddy by tying rakhi.
