CM Revanth Wants DPRs Ready for New Metra Routes
Hyderabad: Chief Minister A. Revanth Reddy has directed officials to finalise the detailed project reports (DPRs) for the proposed Metro Rail projects in Future City, Shamirpet, and Medchal by the end of March. The Chief Minister stressed the importance of obtaining approvals from the Centre for the three networks and initiating tender processes by the end of April.
During a review meeting on Tuesday, the Chief Minister assessed the progress of Metro Rail expansion, elevated corridors, and radial road development in Hyderabad. He instructed officials to expedite land acquisition for three key Metro Rail stretches, namely the Rajiv Gandhi International Airport-Future City (40 km), JBS-Shamirpet (22 km), and Paradise-Medchal (23 km).
The Chief Minister said that elevated corridors and Metro Rail alignments should cater to the city's growing infrastructure needs and called for comprehensive field-level studies before finalising designs. He urged the authorities to prioritise work on the Medchal Metro Rail stretch, keeping in view the three elevated corridors planned along National Highway 44 (NH44).
As part of the Metro Rail network development, a major junction with modern amenities will be established at the starting point of the Shamirpet and Medchal routes. The CM said that the junction should be designed to serve local residents comprehensively, reducing their need to travel to the city for basic facilities.
In addition, the Chief Minister directed the Hyderabad Growth Corridor Limited (HGCL) to construct radial roads for improved connectivity between ORR and RRR. He emphasised the need for these roads to align with the city's long-term development goals.
