CM showers praise on U-19 star

Chief Minister A. Revanth Reddy on Sunday congratulated the Indian Women's Under 19 cricket team for winning the T20 World Cup.

Hyderabad: Chief Minister A. Revanth Reddy on Sunday congratulated the Indian Women's Under 19 cricket team for winning the T20 World Cup. Revanth Reddy had a special word for Gongadi Trisha, a Telangana cricketer, who was India's best player in the tournament.

Revanth Reddy called Trisha Telangana's pride and hoped that she would soon secure a spot in the senior team.
IT and industries minister D. Sridhar Babu, congratulating the team, said the state government had announced a new sports policy. "The state government is committed to make Telangana, a sports hub," Sridhar Babu said.

Union minister G. Kishan Reddy congratulated the team and said: “Today 140 crore people are proud.” He appreciated the role played by Trisha.

Trisha, a native of Bhadrachalam, Bhadradri Kothagudem district, and now settled in Secunderabad, was adjudged player of the tournament, scoring 309 runs and taking seven wickets. In the match against South Africa, she was adjudged the player of the match with a pivotal 44 and three wickets. This was the under-19 team's second consecutive World Cup title.
