Coaching Centres to be Regulated: Sridhar Babu

Hyderabad: The Telangana government will implement Central government guidelines to regulate coaching centres for competitive exams like NEET and Eamcet, announced IT and industries minister Duddilla Sridhar Babu.

Speaking at a Cabinet sub-committee meeting on educational reforms, Sridhar Babu highlighted the need to control high fees and improve safety standards at coaching institutes, some of which are running junior colleges in violation of regulations.

The minister also proposed the establishment of a fee regulation committee for private schools and emphasised transforming government schools into centres of excellence. He discussed merging upper primary and high schools, upgrading nine polytechnic colleges to engineering institutions, and introducing digital classrooms across the state.

The government also plans to offer internships with legislators to degree students specialising in public policy, provide Banking, Financial Services, and Insurance (BFSI) training for BCom, BBA, and MBA students, and incorporate AI into the education system.

Panchayat raj minister Dhanasari Anasuya Seethakka emphasised the need for education on societal issues, respect for women, and including lessons on punishments for crimes against women in textbooks. The ministers stressed the need for educational reforms to meet the aspirations of students and reduce the preference for private schools.
