Cong. silent spectator as AP stealing Krishna water: Harish

Hyderabad: BRS MLA T. Harish Rao has accused the Telangana government of turning a blind eye to the theft of 10,000 cusecs of water from the Nagarjunasagar everyday by the AP government for the last three months.
In a release, he asked, “What are CM A. Revanth Reddy and irrigation minister N. Uttam Kumar Reddy doing? In this year itself, 646 TMC of water has been stolen. Does the Congress not care about Telangana’s water needs? This is happening despite Nagarjunasagar being in the hands of central forces. The government is not raising objections to the drawing of water from Srisailam, Nagarjunasagar projects by the AP government though they are needed for drinking purposes.”
The Krishna River Management Board has failed to convene the mandatory three-men committee meeting this year, exposing severe mismanagement. The state government has failed to bring pressure on the board to secure the state's interest, he said.
The negligence, he asserted, has led to depletion of water from the Sagar and Srisailam reservoirs despite summer not even setting in. Farmers are however taking to the roads seeking water. This will lead to shortage of water in the Krishna basin. Shortage of water in the Sagar will create drinking water shortage for Hyderabad.
The government should intervene immediately and stop water loot by AP by bringing in pressure on the Krishna Board, he said.
