Cong Wins Dare, BRS Fails To Turn Up For Drug Test
HYDERABAD: Congress MP Anil Kumar Yadav and MLC Balmoori Venkat called the BRS bluff over taking drugs tests, after waiting at a hospital for a few hours for BRS MLAs and MPs to turn up, as promised by BRS MLA Padi Kaushik Reddy.
“Kaushik said he would also bring KCR and KTR for testing but he himself did not turn up. Much can be said about Kaushik and he should know that his stature is nowhere near to where he can criticise the Chief Minister,” Yadav said.
This dare erupted on Tuesday after the officials raided the house of Raj Pakala, the brother-in-law of BRS working president K.T. Rama Rao, a couple of days ago which led to loud protests from the BRS that its top leaders were being targeted by the Congress government which was using relatives of their leaders to attack and silence opposition voice.
In the wake of this controversy, Yadav, Congress Rajya Sabha member, on Monday said if the BRS had nothing to fear, then all BRS MLAs and MPs should get tested for drugs to prove themselves to be clean and offered to get himself and other Congress elected representatives too tested for the same.
Yadav had said that if the BRS wanted to prove that its leaders were clean, then it should accept this challenge.
Following this, BRS MLA Kaushik Reddy on Tuesday told a press conference that he was accepting the challenge and would marshal all his party MLAs and MPs after enlisting the cooperation of party president K. Chandrashekar Rao and leaders Rama Rao and Harish Rao.
Kaushik Reddy said that they would be ready to undergo the drug tests if the Congress leaders were willing to keep their end of the challenge. He also said that there was “so much” he could reveal about Chief Minister A. Revanth Reddy, but he was not doing so at this point in time.”
