Congress failed to fulfil promises: Kavitha
Karimnagar: BRS MLC Kalvakuntla Kavitha, visiting Jagtial district for the first time since her release from jail, condemned the state government for neglecting Telangana Talli and Bathukamma Talli, highlighting that these idols received prayers from the people of Telangana during the separate Telangana movement.
A large number of women warmly welcomed Kavitha at Dharur Crossroads on the outskirts of Jagtial town. She participated in Bathukamma celebrations with the women and paid tribute to Dr. BR Ambedkar’s statue by garlanding it. Following this, she took part in a bike rally to the new bus stand area.
Addressing the gathering, Kavitha stated that Jagtial is a stronghold (Adda) of BRS and will remain so indefinitely. She expressed concern over the erosion of the state’s identity, emphasising that the Congress government’s actions are undermining the cultural heritage fiercely protected and celebrated during the Telangana movement.
"The Congress government has utterly failed to fulfill the promises it made to the people before the Assembly elections. What happened to the promise of sanctioning Rs 2,500 to every woman, and why has the government not increased the pension amount to date?" she questioned.
Kavitha added that the BRS will challenge the Congress government in the upcoming Assembly and Council sessions starting December 16.
She also criticised Jagtial MLA Dr S. Sanjay Kumar for switching to the Congress after being elected on a BRS ticket. "After winning with KCR’s photo, MLA Sanjay joined the Congress to make money. With which face is he going to attend the Assembly tomorrow?" she asked.
Later, Kavitha visited Kasturba Gandhi Balika Vidyalaya at Sarangapur mandal headquarters and interacted with students. On the occasion, she welcomed the Congress government’s decision to increase diet and cosmetic charges at all social welfare hostels.
She demanded that the government implement the increased charges in all KGBV schools across the state and regularise the contract teachers of KGBV schools and employees of Samagra Shiksha Abhiyan who are currently on strike.
