Congress govt. lists out first year achievements in Telangana

Hyderabad: The state government, under the leadership of Chief Minister A. Revanth Reddy, which is set to complete its first year in office on December 7, has showcased a series of accomplishments in governance and development across various sectors.

The government in a statement on Monday highlighted 31 key achievements that reflected its focus on welfare, infrastructure, industry, and social justice.

It said the government had implemented the highest farmer loan waiver in independent India with Rs 21,000 crore for 25 lakh farmers, the state recorded the highest paddy production in the country at 1.53 crore tonnes in kharif this year, coupled with a bonus of Rs 500 per quintal of fine varieties which is the highest ever given to farmers.

The government supplied free electricity for farmers and ensured that they had access to round-the-clock power for irrigation.

The government initiated a comprehensive plan to re-imagine and structurally overhaul Hyderabad, making it the first Indian city to undertake such a massive effort to address climate change challenges and secure sustainable growth for five decades.

It noted that the world's largest Mahatma Gandhi statue would be unveiled at Bapu Ghat, alongside the creation of a 200-acre Gandhian pilgrimage centre in Hyderabad. The government also implemented the Godavari water project, providing clean drinking water to the city.

The government initiated major infrastructure projects including the Regional Ring Road, Ring Rail, and Metro Rail expansion, which are set to revolutionise transportation and connectivity across Telangana.

Under the Congress government, women benefited from welfare schemes, including Mahalakshmi free bus travel, subsidised cooking gas cylinders at Rs 500 each, and free electricity for households consuming less than 200 units. This has resulted in savings of nearly Rs 10,000 per month for women, it said.

The government supported women self-help groups (SHGs) and entrepreneurs with loans and resources, paving the way for the creation of a one crore ‘Mahila kotiswarulu’ initiative.

On the education front, a major focus of the government was the integration of residential schools for Dalit, tribal, OBC, and minority students, with world-class facilities in new campuses. Additionally, a comprehensive caste survey was undertaken to review policies and allocations for social welfare.

The state increased the cap for Rajiv Aarogyasri health insurance to Rs 10 lakh.

The government has received and addressed more than half a million public grievances through the Prajavani platform. For the first time in a decade, the government ensured that salaries and pensions for its employees were paid on the first day of the month.

The state also set records in attracting investments with the highest inflow of foreign, domestic, and public sector investments in a single year, according to the statement. The government focused on the development of industrial parks and manufacturing growth in Tier-2 towns. Significant development projects were initiated in Warangal, which is set to be developed as the state’s second capital.

The government restored media freedom, putting an end to censorship and intimidation of criticism.

In a landmark move, the government removed “feudal restrictions” on the public's access to the Chief Minister, ministers, and government offices, ensuring greater transparency and openness in administration.

It said Chief Minister Revanth Reddy’s leadership had been characterised by his tireless work ethic, often putting in 18-hour workdays with no breaks, meeting with people, and taking direct feedback to improve governance. His emphasis on a balance between welfare and development has helped Telangana emerge as a 'future-ready state'.

Despite inheriting a state burdened with over Rs. 7 lakh crore in loans during BRS regime, the Congress government has managed to steer Telangana towards growth and stability, it said.
