Cong govt sets record in hiring: Revanth
Hyderabad: Chief Minister A. Revanth Reddy on Wednesday declared that the Congress government in Telangana had set a national benchmark by filling 54,520 government jobs in just one year. He criticised the BRS and BJP leaders for attempting to derail the recruitment process through "artificial protests" but credited the success of the initiative to the unwavering support of students and unemployed youth.
Revanth Reddy addressed a massive rally of students, youth and unemployed titled "Yuva Vikasam" to celebrate the distribution of appointment letters to over 9,000 candidates selected in Group-4 and other recruitment exams.
He highlighted the Congress government's commitment to employment generation and social empowerment during its first year in office.
“No state government in the country has ever achieved this feat in its first year. This is a historic accomplishment by the Congress government in Telangana,” he remarked, asserting that the administration's efforts were unparalleled.
Revanth Reddy issued a bold challenge to Prime Minister Narendra Modi and Union ministers G. Kishan Reddy and Bandi Sanjay, questioning whether Gujarat had ever filled over 54,000 government jobs in a single year during Modi's tenure as the Chief Minister or the Prime Minister.
“I am even ready to travel to Gujarat for a debate on this issue, and I’ll arrange a special flight for Modi to come to Telangana to discuss it in the Secretariat,” Revanth Reddy quipped, emphasising the Congress government's unmatched achievements in job creation.
The Chief Minister launched a scathing attack on BRS chief and former chief minister K. Chandrashekar Rao, accusing him of neglecting the youth and unemployed who had been the backbone of the Telangana statehood movement.
“KCR’s decade-long rule offered jobs only to his family — his son KTR, daughter Kavitha, nephew Harish, and relatives like J. Santosh Kumar and B. Vinod Kumar. These positions went to ministers, MPs, and MLAs, while the real torchbearers of the Telangana movement were sidelined,” Revanth Reddy said.
He credited the Congress government with rectifying this imbalance, stating, “It is because students and youth removed Chandrashekhar Rao and his family from jobs that they now have access to over 54,000 jobs.”
Revanth Reddy urged the people of Telangana to "socially boycott" Chandrashekhar Rao and his family members for refusing to participate in the ongoing caste census.
He highlighted that the Congress government had fulfilled a long-standing promise to conduct caste enumeration, ensuring equitable distribution of benefits to backward classes and other marginalised groups.
“Why are KCR, KTR, and their family avoiding the census? Are they against the upliftment of BCs and other communities? This is a question BC associations must ponder,” he stated.
Highlighting his government’s pro-people initiatives, Revanth Reddy pledged to make one crore women in Telangana as 'crorepatis' through robust support to self-help groups (SHGs). He criticised the neglect of SHGs during Chandrashekhar Rao’s tenure and reaffirmed his commitment to women’s financial empowerment, declaring, “One crore women as crorepatis will secure us a second term in power; male voters will just be a bonus.”
The Congress government also achieved a milestone by releasing `21,000 crore for farmer loan waivers benefiting 25 lakh farmers. Despite challenges, Telangana set a record in paddy production, achieving 1.53 crore tonnes without relying on water from the Kaleshwaram project.
He highlighted his government's efforts to revive Telangana’s universities, which he claimed were weakened during Chandrashekhar Rao’s rule. “We took immediate steps to strengthen our universities, ensuring quality education for the youth,” he said.
The Chief Minister expressed confidence in the people’s support for the Congress-led government. “No one can create miracles overnight. People have given us a mandate for five years, and we will deliver on all fronts,” he assured.
