Congress govt. will waive off farmers loans before August: Bhatti

Kothagudem: Dismissing the negative propaganda of opposition on farmers’ loan waiver, Deputy Chief Minister Bhatti Vikramarka Mallu said the Congress government would prove them wrong by implementing Rs 2 lakh loan waiver.

The Opposition earlier too said the Cong government would not deposit Rythu Bandhu amount. The State government deposited Rs 7,500 crore at one go in farmers’ bank accounts, he recalled while participating in several development works related to drinking water and roads in Kothagudem on Thursday.

Later addressing a local meeting, he said despite several problems, the Congress government would implement loan waiver for farmers well before August and no one could prevent this. The State government announced that loan waiver for farmers would be implemented in August.

On Rythu Bharosa, he said public opinion would be gathered on who should be the beneficiaries, how to distribute the amount and then guidelines would be formulated and tabled in the Assembly for a discussion. A legislation would be passed and Rythu Bharosa would be implemented for the benefit of farmers.

The Congress government would be accountable for public money and would not let it be misused. The leaders, who ruled the State for 10 years had looted the treasury and distributed funds indiscriminately. They burdened the State with Rs 7 lakh crore and fled, he criticised.

In Indiramma Rajyam, the government would be careful in raising every rupee and spend the funds meaningfully. Bhatti exuded confidence that their government would create wealth and distribute it for welfare schemes.

The previous government borrowed Rs 42,000 crore in the name of Mission Bhagiratha and yet they could not provide household drinking water supply.

In Kothagudem town, there is a need to spend Rs 150 crore for drinking water supply. Similarly, in Alair of Nalgonda district, the government would have to spend Rs 150 crore for providing drinking water as the previous government did not spend funds judiciously.

He assured that if there is a possibility to form a municipal corporation by merging Kothagudem and Palvancha towns, then he will take it the notice of the State Cabinet. To addresstraffic jam problem in Kothagudem town, land acquisition for laying of a bypass road has been completed, he said.

Roads and Buildings (R&B) Minister Komatireddy Venkat Reddy sanctioned funds for construction of RoB and the R&B department was striving for construction of ROBs throughout the State. Bhatti disclosed that plans were being formulated to construct a super critical thermal power project in Ramagundam as adequate land, water and coal were available. The good news would be announced soon, he said.

The Deputy Chief Minister also said that he would discuss with Singareni management to provide land for construction of the IT hub in Kothagudem. He would discuss with IT Minister D Sridhar Babu and strive for development of tier II and industrial city of Kothagudem.

Referring to Sitarama irrigation project, Bhatti criticised that the previous rulers had spent Rs 9,000 crore but failed to release water to even one acre.

The Congress party soon after forming the government got the details of all pending projects and identified them as projects that could be completed in six months, one year, three years and five years. These projects would be completed on priority basis and irrigation facilities would be extended. Water would also be released through Sitarama project soon, he said, adding that the link canal to Wyra project was being coordinated at a cost of Rs 70 crore.
