Telangana: Congress increased its vote share in minority areas of three assembly segments

Minority votes are sizeable in Adilabad, Nirmal and Mudhole assembly constituencies and these votes went to the Congress

ADILABAD: Congress party’s assembly constituency in-charges are busy "analyzing" the voting trends in their respective areas even as the party candidate Atram Suguna was defeated in the polls for the Adilabad LS seat. The BJP won the seat.

Some of these constituency incharges are projecting the votes polled for Congress candidate as their success by ignoring the fact that Muslim minorities voted en masse for the Congress.

Minority votes are sizeable in Adilabad, Nirmal and Mudhole assembly constituencies and these votes went to the Congress.

Congress candidate Atram Suguna got 77056 votes, BJP candidate 82394 votes and Atram Sakku 16265 votes in Adilabad assembly constituency. The Congress got 64033 votes, BJP candidate Godam Nagesh got 107603 and BRS got 8264 in Nirmal assembly constituency.

The Congress candidate got 67501 votes, the BJP 105334 votes and BRS 12505 votes in the Mudhole assembly constituency.

This trend resulted in a rise in the votes for the Congress candidate in the LS elections, unlike in the last assembly elections where Minority votes were split between the Congress and the BRS, helping the BJP to win four out of the seven seats.

This time, votes increased for the Congress party in all the seven assembly constituencies, compared to the last assembly election polling as the people wanted to elect a national party.

The Congress candidate got 4,77,516 votes, Godam Nagesh of the BJP got 5,68,168 votes and BRS candidate Atram Sakku got 1,37300 votes in the Adilabad LS polls.
