HYDERABAD: Union minister for coal and mines G. Kishan Reddy ridiculed Congress and BRS leaders for having stooped down to the lowest level of making personal charges against one another and in the process polluting the political atmosphere in the state.
Addressing a large gathering of party workers, MLAs, MPs and office-bearers during the state-level workshop on failures of the Congress government here on Monday, Reddy, who is also the party’s state unit chief, said that Chief Minister A. Revanth Reddy was unabashedly claiming that his government had implemented all poll promises and giving big advertisements during the current Maharashtra elections.
Hitting out at accusations by Congress leaders about him being a “Gujarat ka ghulam”, Kishan Reddy said that he is not “a fake Gandhi family ghulam” like Congress leaders, who are “ghulams of an Italian family”.
The Union minister claimed that he was a Gujarat ghulam as the state had produced the Father of the Nation Mahatma Gandhi, Sardar Patel, who liberated Hyderabad from the clutches of the British, and Narendra Modi, who has been voted to power for a third successive term.
Referring to the party’s organisational elections and membership drive in the state, Kishan Reddy pointed out that over 35 lakh persons have joined the party so far. Booth committee elections will conclude by the end of this month, he said.
Asking the party workers to prepare lists of enrolled members, he advised leaders to maintain a perfect coordination at the booth-level as this would fetch massive returns in the upcoming local body polls.
He asked party leaders to hold workshops at the mandal-level before conducting organisational polls at the mandal and district levels.
Claiming that that BJP was fast emerging as an alternative force in Telangana, he appealed to everyone to work untiringly to expose the failures of Congress government.
Charging Revanth Reddy of burdening people with RR tax and making frequent trips to appease the party high command with huge payments, Kishan Reddy called for working out a strategy to defeat the Congress in the MLC and local body elections.
