Congress MLA Accuses BRS of Derailing Skills University Discussion
Hyderabad: Congress MLA Yennam Srinivas Reddy alleged that the BRS leaders were attempting to derail the Assembly discussion on establishing the skills university. HE said that before 2014, the then UPA government had studied the ways and means to fill the gap in upskilling people in the SC, ST and BC communities.
Speaking in the Assembly on Thursday, Srinivas Reddy said, “The BJP brought in a Bill on these lines. The Rajasthan, Haryana states have started skill varsities. The BRS did not think of such an initiative in the last ten years. Their leaders acted against the interests of youths and ended up in the Opposition benches. If they are interested in the welfare of youth they should not use their personal vendetta against the CM and derail the House.”
He said the skills university has been modeled on the ISB and IIIT in the PPP model and 57 acres had been given for its campus. Seven segments have been identified for the purpose. “Our youths are behind in bagging jobs in banks while some states are getting more jobs. Hence the initiative to invite the SBI to train candidates,” Srinivas Reddy said.
