Congress Slams BRS, BJP for Spreading Lies on Loan Waiver
Hyderabad: Congress MP Chamala Kiran Kumar Reddy and senior leader M. Kodanda Reddy accused BRS and BJP leaders of spreading lies about the Rs 2 lakh crop loan waiver scheme, though the government had achieved a milestone by implementing it in less than a month by spending nearly Rs 18,000 crore.
Addressing a press conference at Gandhi Bhavan, Kiran Kumar Reddy called the initiative as "real swaraj" for Telangana's farmers and contrasted this achievement with the actions of BRS, accusing its leaders of neglecting farmer welfare and mismanaging state funds. The MP also criticised Union minister Bandi Sanjay Kumar for his comments suggesting a potential merger of BRS with the Congress, stating that Bandi Sanjay's statements lacked coherence and seriousness.
Kisan Congress national vice-president Kodanda Reddy termed BRS leader K.T. Rama Rao an inexperienced leader and accused him of misleading the public. He reaffirmed Congress's commitment to farmers, citing the party's fulfillment of its election promise to waive crop loans.
Kodanda Reddy reiterated the Congress government's plans to continue supporting farmers with additional relief measures, including addressing debts beyond Rs 2 lakh and ensuring no eligible farmer is left behind in the debt settlement process.
