Congress welcomes HC’s verdict on KTR’s case
Hyderabad:The Congress on Tuesday welcomed the Telangana High Court’s decision to dismiss the quash petition filed by BRS working president K.T. Rama Rao challenging the ACB probe into his alleged involvement in the Formula E Race scam.
Revenue minister Ponguleti Srinivas Reddy said, “Mistakes will always be exposed. Courts are the ones to decide what’s right and wrong. Those who have made mistakes can never escape. It is not right to show off in front of courts. If KTR has done nothing wrong, why did he approach the court?”
The minister accused the BRS leadership of misusing public funds and expressed confidence that more irregularities would surface.
Srinivas Reddy alleged that `55 crore of public money was funnelled to foreign companies and demanded clarity on the source of the BRS’s finances, which he claimed were disproportionately high for a regional party.
Srinivas Reddy further dismissed claims by BRS leaders that the investigations were politically motivated, stating, “The inquiries into Kaleshwaram, power sector, and the Formula E scam were initiated based on BRS leaders’ demands. No inquiry was conducted with bias or malice. Everything is coming out because of systemic corruption.”
“If KTR believes that going to jail is a prerequisite to becoming the Chief Minister, Kavitha (KTR’s sister) would precede him. He is afraid of the ACB’s inquiry and is even reluctant to appear before them without legal representation.”
MLC Dr Venkat Balamoor urged authorities to seize Rama Rao’s passport to prevent him from fleeing the country. He also called on BRS MLAs to reflect on whether they should support alleged corruption or stand with the people.
Congress MP Chamala Kiran Kumar Reddy urged Rama Rao to respect the judiciary and cooperate with the ongoing investigations. He recalled Rama Rao’s defiant stance when the case was initially registered, stating, “You challenged the authorities, saying you were ready for arrest. Now, you evade inquiries and claim victimhood. Respect the law and the courts.”
