Congress workers hurl eggs on Telangana BJP office to protest MP Bidhuri’s comments
Hyderabad: Tension prevailed at Telangana BJP office in Nampally here on Tuesday when activists of Congress hurled eggs on it protesting against the comments made by the BJP MP Ramesh Bidhuri on Congress MP Priyanka Gandhi.
Though the police tried to stop the Congress workers from heading towards the BJP office from MJ Market main road, a few managed to reach the office and hurled eggs. Half a dozen Congress workers reached the main gate and tried to lay siege to it.
But the police foiled their attempts. Even as the police were trying to take them into preventive custody, one more group of Congress workers holding party flags reached the office to stage a protest. On seeing this, the BJP workers took strong objection to it.
As a result, both the BJP and Congress workers attacked one another with sticks. In the melee, a BJP worker suffered head injuries. The leaders rushed him to a nearby private hospital for treatment.
Sensing that the situation might go out of control, the police dispersed the two warring groups. It took almost half an hour for the police to bring the situation under control. Irate Congress workers also burnt the effigy of Bidhuri in front of the BJP office for making unnecessary comments against Priyanka Gandhi.
The police deployed additional police pickets at the BJP office to prevent any untoward incident.
