Cop Suspended for Scuffle Over Bribe From Tea Stall

Suryapet: A police constable was suspended and a home guard attached to the District Police Office after a scuffle over sharing festival bribe (mamool) collected from a tea stall owner outside the Penphad police station.

Superintendent of Police Sunpreet Singh issued orders suspending constable Janoth Ravi Kumar and attaching home guard Ganji Srinivas following an inquiry into the incident.

Reports suggest the duo had collected Rs 1,500 as a Christmas mamool (bribe) from the tea stall owner. Disagreements over splitting the amount led to a physical altercation on the police station premises on December 28.

The Penphad sub-inspector submitted a report on the incident, prompting the SP's disciplinary action against the personnel.
