Cops on alert at TG border after Bidar robbery
Kamareddy: Police have issued a high alert along the Telangana-Karnataka border following a daring robbery in Bidar town, Karnataka, on Thursday. Armed robbers on a motorbike shot dead two security guards and stole ₹93 lakh as the victims were trying to refill cash in an SBI ATM.
Karnataka police have formed special teams to track the robbers in Bidar district and have shared information with their counterparts in Telangana and Maharashtra to tighten security in border areas. Authorities are focusing on the possibility that the robbers are moving along the inter-state borders.
The incident has drawn comparisons to a similar robbery on January 12 in Pitlam mandal, Kamareddy district, Telangana, just 70 km from Bidar. In that case, robbers used a gas cutter to break into an ATM and steal ₹17 lakh. Investigators suspect the two incidents could be linked.
Police are analysing CCTV footage to trace the movements of the robbers across the border regions. The attack on security personnel has created widespread panic among residents in Bidar (Karnataka), Nanded (Maharashtra), and Kamareddy (Telangana).
