Cops on Alert in Maoist-Hit Areas Ahead of Counting
Adilabad: Ahead of counting of votes, police have intensified their surveillance in the areas along the Pranahitha and Godavari rivers following the death of a villager in Mulugu district on Monday.
Adilabad and Peddapalli Parliament Constituencies share the borders with Maharashtra and Chattisgarh states. Mancherial police have stepped up the surveillance along the rivers of Penganga and Godavari by using drones after a villager died due to IED explosion at Kongalagutta in Vajedu mandal of Mulugu district on Monday.
Ramagundam Police Commissioner M. Srinivasulu is monitoring the situation and coordinating with the police officials of the bordering states.
It is said that Maoists are focused on the pathways or tracks frequently used by the police combing parties to reach the checkpoints.
It is learnt that police officials in the Maoist-hit states are making a coordinated efforts in their fight. They have developed a good informant networks in Chattisgarh, Maharashtra and Telangana and are tracking the movements of the people with the help of cell phone towers in the Maoist-affected areas.
Mancherial and Ramagundam police have also intensified vehicle checking on the state borders.
