Counselling Centres Mitigate Marital Strife

Hyderabad: The All India Milli Council (AIMC), Telangana chapter, said it had resolved 59 cases of marital disputes over a period of two years at its mohalla family counselling centres (MFCCs). It had reconciled 47 couples, facilitated the separation of eight couples and was currently handling 12 cases.

These outcomes highlighted the effectiveness of the centres in providing a peaceful resolution to family disputes, reducing the strain on the judicial system, a statement said.

The AIMC, a national organisation established 33 years ago, has been serving the Muslim community on social issues. As marital strife became a major issue among the community, the AIMC city chapter established MFCCs at Shaheennagar, Bandlaguda, Rajendranagar, Secunderabad, Toli Chowki, Musheerabad and Riyasatnagar in 2022.

The AIMC engaged an average of 18 counsellors in these centres after training them. The training covered subjects such as personal laws, counselling techniques, family law, the Dowry Prohibition Act, the Domestic Violence Act, Section 125 of the CrPC and the basics of clinical psychology. The work of MFCCs has been in line with court-approved mediation methods and delivered desired results, said an AIMC leaders.
