Couple among three injured due to kite manja in Telangana
Hyderabad: Three persons including a couple suffered injuries due to kite manja that got tangled around their hands and neck in Shamshabad and Bhadradri-Kothagudem district on Wednesday.
In the first incident, a couple was returning home at Shadnagar in erstwhile Mahbubnagar district on their motorcycle after visiting a temple at Muchintal in connection with New Year.
After crossing Muchintal, kite manja got tangled to the neck of Ranganath and when his wife was trying to remove it, she also suffered injuries on her hands. Ranganath said that he escaped with minor injuries only after his wife reacted immediately and tried to remove it and appealed to the people, especially youngsters not to use Chinese manja while flying kites on account of Sankranti festival.
In a separate incident, a motorcyclist, A Krishna Rao, sustained grievous injuries after manja tangled his neck at Ramavaram village in Kothagudem Town in Khammam district. Rao, a resident of Gurvaigudem of Chandrukonda mandal, was on his way to his office in Kothagudem when the incident occurred.
Locals first rushed him to a private hospital in Kothagudem. As his condition became serious, the family members rushed him to a private hospital in Hyderabad for better treatment. Youngsters started flying kites for the last 10 days even before the Sankranti festival on January 13 and 14.
