CPM Elects Arun Kumar to Politburo

Kumar also worked as a central committee member. Kumar is native of Vijayawada and his family members are associated with the CPM and its affiliated wings.

Hyderabad: The CPM elected R. Arun Kumar, formerly with the Students Federation of India in undivided AP, as politburo member during its 24th congress at Madurai on Sunday. There are now Telugu persons in the CPM politburo: B.V. Raghavulu and Arun Kumar.

When Kumar was SFI general secretary in undivided AP, the students body organised protests against the then governments for their anti-student policies. Later, Kumar was shifted to the CPM headquarters in New Delhi and looked after international affairs of the party.

Kumar also worked as a central committee member. Kumar is native of Vijayawada and his family members are associated with the CPM and its affiliated wings.
