C.V. Anand Appointed Telangana New DGP
The Telangana government on Tuesday appointed C.V. Anand as the Director General of Police (Head of Police Force)

Hyderabad: Senior most IPS official C.V. Anand, who has vast experience in policing and numerous success stories adorning in his CV, was appointed Director-General of Police (Head of Police Force) here on Tuesday.
He will assume charge after incumbent DGP (full additional charge) B. Shivadhar Reddy demits office on April 30 on attaining superannuation.
The state government finalised the appointment of Anand, a 1991 batch IPS officer, strictly in accordance with the guidelines prescribed by the Supreme Court in the ‘Prakash Singh’ case.
“Anand was the natural choice given his seniority and efficiency,” sources close to Chief Minister A. Revanth Reddy said. A city lad in the true sense, born in Jajki Khana (Maternity) Government Hospital in Petlaburj, Anand did his schooling in Hyderabad Public School and graduated from Nizam College and did his MA in economics from Osmania University.
After clearing civils in his first attempt, Anand joined the service with his first posting as ASP in Warangal and served as district superintendent of police for the first time in Nizamabad. “His first nine years of service was in Naxal-affected districts, where he personally led the forces and participated in exchange of fire and encounters,” according to a police official.
Anand has received the President’s Gallantry Medal. He served as police commissioner in Vijayawada, Cyberabad and twice in Hyderabad, as civil supplies commissioner, DG Anti Corruption Bureau and the Vigilance and Enforcement wing before reaching the top. He also served on deputation in CISF and NISA.
Streamlining the Ganesh immersion procession as well as the city traffic, bringing the accused in the Krushi Bank scam to book, reducing the debt burden of civil supplies from `15,000 crore to `3,000 crore — for which he won the national e-governance award for IT enabled initiatives in civil supplies — were some of Anand’s notable initiatives.
Anand also developed a standard operating procedure to deal with land disputes in the city surroundings and bagged first prize at the Word Police Summit in Dubai for his IT initiatives in policing.
