CWC Temporarily Halts Permissions for Key Telangana Irrigation Projects
HYDERABAD: The Central Water Commission (CWC) has put a temporary halt with respect to its permissions for the Palamuru Rangareddy lift irrigation scheme (PRLIS) and two others in Telangana.
In a letter to the state’s engineer-in-chief, irrigation projects, the Union jal shakti ministgry has said that it was deleting the PRLIS project, along with the Kaleshwaram project’s additional 1 tmc ft lifting proposal, and the BR Ambedkar Wardha project.
The ministry said there were several issues with respect to each of these three projects that had not been addressed by the state government for about a year now, and hence, it was removing these three projects from its list of projects under consideration.
The CWC also said that it was returning the detailed project reports of these projects to the state irrigation department.
