Cyberabad Police Catch 385 for Drunk Driving
Hyderabad: Cyberabad police caught 385 people for drunk driving, including four persons with a very high blood alcohol concentration of 550 mg/100 ml.
The legal limit is 30 mg of alcohol per 100 ml of blood in India. The operation was conducted at various locations across the Cyberabad commissionerate on Saturday night.
As many as 292 two-wheeler riders, 11 three-wheeler drivers, 80 four-wheeler drivers, and two heavy vehicle drivers were caught. In the IT corridor alone, 182 offenders were caught.
"All those caught will be taken to court and anyone under the influence of alcohol causing fatal accidents will be charged under section 304, part-II of the Indian Penal Code for culpable homicide, not amounting to murder, which can lead to 10 years in jail. We urge everyone to follow traffic laws and avoid driving under the influence," said joint CP Joel Davis.
