Cyberabad police nabs 5 persons in Medchal highway murder case
Police seize two knives from arrested persons

Hyderabad: Within 24 hours, the Medchal police on Monday arrested five individuals involved in the murder of a 25-year-old man in front of the Medchal bus depot on Sunday. According to Medchal inspector A. Satyanarayana, the accused have been identified as Gugolothu Rakesh, 19, a student; Gugoloth Laxman, 20, Bukya Naveen, 21, Bukya Suresh, 21, and Bukya Naresh, 20, all four working in a private company.
The victim, Gugolothu Umesh, 25, had a criminal history, with previous involvement in nine cases of snatching, robbery and murder in various parts of Kamareddy district. He had also been convicted in one of these cases. Umesh, known for his alcoholism, had been harassing his family for a long time. His younger brother, Rakesh, grew frustrated with him and devised a plan to eliminate him. Rakesh enlisted the help of his cousins—Laxman, Naveen and Suresh — and obtained two knives.
On Sunday, Rakesh and Laxman visited Umesh's house. Upon finding him drunk and continuing to harass his family members, they attempted to calm him down. However, when Umesh began abusing them, the two accused pulled out knives and attacked him. As Umesh tried to flee the house, the duo chased him and repeatedly stabbed him outside the residence.
Medchal ACP Srinivas Reddy told the Deccan Chronicle, “Since the accused are a little petite physically and the victim is well-built, they thought they wouldn't be able to defend themselves. During the attack at Umesh’s house, it was the three other accused who held him for the two prime accused to murder him.”
Acting on witness testimonies and technical evidence, the Medchal police, at around 10.00 am, traced all the five accused in a room in Kandlakoya, arrested them and seized two motorcycles used in the crime, murder weapons (knives) hidden in the same room and a mobile phone used to plan the crime.
