Cybercrime Police Uncover Fake Consultancy Job Fraud
HYDERABAD: The Cyberabad cybercrime police one Mohammed Ali, 33, of Kalaburagi in Karnataka for cheating a city resident and several students after falsely promising jobs in tech firms. He is among a gang of five persons who cheated those looking for jobs. Two others have been arrested, and two are at large, police said.
The victim had lodged a complaint on August 1 stating that she had received a call on from one Reshma who claimed to be a senior HR manager of an MNC, and offered her a job. She asked the victim for others who were looking for jobs. The victim referred a few to Reshma.
Upon Reshma’s insistence, the victim said, she collected money from the students and transferred it to multiple accounts provided by the accused. Subsequently, the students received fake job offers. Later, Reshma stopped responding to phone calls, and the victim approached the police.
Investigations led by inspector P. Narendra Reddy revealed that a team of five persons were involved in the fraud. Reshma and Koushik opened a fake consultancy office in Kukatpally in 2023, police said. Reshma would call the targets and Koushik would pretend to be a recruiter for the MNCs and conduct fake interviews. Mohammed Ali, who was arrested, and Fazil Patil acted as interviewers for different rounds.
The money collected from the targets was sent to the bank account of Mohammed Nazeeruddin Raza. Reshma, said to be the wife of Mohammed Ali, and Naseeruddin Raza were arrested earlier. Fazil Patil and Koushik are absconding.
