Danam Nagender's abusive language sparks a row in Assembly

Hyderabad: The Legislative Assembly witnessed a tumultuous time on Friday after Khairatabad MLA Danam Nagender's use of abusive language was caught by the mike.

The incident occurred when Nagender, who had defected from the BRS to the Congress, was speaking during a debate on development of Hyderabad. BRS MLAs led by party working president K.T. Rama Rao, questioned Nagender's party affiliation.
Speaker Gaddam Prasad Kumar affirmed the right of every member to speak, he did not clarify Nagender's current party affiliation, leading to further objections from the BRS members.
Nagender responded to the interruption by using cuss words and abusive language, particularly targeting BRS MLA Padi Kaushik Reddy. He challenged BRS MLAs to confront him outside the Assembly, made inflammatory remarks, including threats to "peel off their skin" and threatened that he will not allow BRS MLAs to walk on the streets.
His comments provoked a strong reaction from the BRS legislators.
AIMIM floor leader Akbaruddin Owaisi also voiced his disapproval, condemning Nagender's remarks as "very unparliamentary" and inappropriate for a senior legislator. He urged the Speaker to compel Nagender to issue an unconditional apology, warning that failure to do so would set a dangerous precedent.
In response to the escalating chaos, the Speaker announced that the offensive remarks would be expunged from the Assembly records and instructed Nagender to apologise. Nagender withdrew his comments and expressed regret, stating that his remarks were not intentional and attributed them to Hyderabadi slang.
