Hyderabad: Traffic police revived Operation ROPE (Removal of Obstructive Parking & Encroachments) to clear obstructions that had sprung up on the cycle track and footpath from the Mettuguda 'U' Turn to Railway Degree College in Secunderabad, following the report ‘Obstacles galore on cycle tracks in H’guda, Tarnaka’, published in these columns on Thursday.

At 2.30 pm, a team of around 20 personnel from the Chilkalguda traffic and Lalaguda police stations started the operation, removing encroachments, including makeshift fruit stalls, toy shops, food stalls, handicraft sellers, and petty vendors who had occupied the footpath and cycle track.

A total of 30 cases were booked under Section 39B of the CP Act against the offenders.

"Moving forward, we will conduct daily inspections and continue to remove obstructions. The track will remain clear as long as cyclists are using it," Chilkalguda traffic police inspector Chinthakindi Srinivasulu told Deccan Chronicle.

The operation was scheduled to extend until 9 pm, ensuring the route remains accessible and safe for cyclists.
