Demolitions for Old City Metro Picks Up Pace

A total of 1,100 properties will be affected by the 7.5-km Metro Rail between MGBS and Chandrayangutta. The demolition of the acquired properties will be completed in a few months.

Hyderabad: Officials have begun demolition of properties between MGBS and Chandrayangutta for the Old City Metro Rail project. The demolitions will be paused during the month of Ramzan to avoid discomfort to the people.

A total of 1,100 properties will be affected by the 7.5-km Metro Rail between MGBS and Chandrayangutta. The demolition of the acquired properties will be completed in a few months.

According to the officials, around 50 out of 200 properties, for which compensation was issued, have been demolished.

Srinivasa Reddy, deputy executive engineer, said: “Work is going on well, without obstructing traffic flow. We are working with utmost caution as there are various cables passing through this road.”

The Rs 2,741-crore extension project was revived by Chief Minister Revanth Reddy, after it was was shelved by the previous BRS government.
