Despite showers, dry weather to stay in Telangana
The India Meteorological Department reported that a low-pressure area developed over the central Bay of Bengal early Monday, under the influence of an upper air cyclonic circulation extending to 5.8 km above mean sea level.

HYDERABAD: Isolated thunderstorms were observed in parts of Telangana on Monday afternoon as high humidity levels and shifting pressure systems triggered rain and gusty winds across districts including Bhadradri-Kothagudem, Mahbubabad, and Nagarkurnool. Hyderabad remained mostly dry, though skies turned overcast briefly with scattered showers. Temperatures across the state pushed upward, with several districts including Khammam, Adilabad, and Nizamabad touching the 44 degrees Celsius. Even Hyderabad registered 36ºC–40°C, with more heat forecast through the week.

Late afternoon gusts startled residents in Warangal. The surge in winds came from a strong gust front generated by severe storms over eastern Telangana, particularly Bhadradri, Mulugu, Mahbubabad, and Khammam, which pushed westward. These winds brought no rain to Warangal but stirred dust and debris across open roads and neighbourhoods. Bhupalapally experienced similar gusts, while Suryapet and Jangaon remained in line for scattered storm activity. Most other areas, including Hyderabad, were mostly dry apart from scattered intense thunderstorms in Mahbubnagar, Vikarabad, Rangareddy and Bhadradri-Kothagudem.
Weather alerts remain in place through Tuesday for multiple districts, particularly those bordering Chhattisgarh and coastal Andhra, where lightning and gusty winds may recur. The IMD bulletin issued on Monday afternoon cautioned against sheltering under trees and advised farmers to delay fieldwork during storm windows. “The trough from East Bihar to North Telangana across northeast Jharkhand and Chhattisgarh at 1.5 km above mean sea level persists,” the IMD stated.
Temperatures are projected to continue rising across Telangana through mid-week. More than a dozen districts may experience highs between 41ºC and 44°C despite the rain forecast.
