Discipline, integrity, commitment above self, cadets told

Hyderabad: “Discipline, integrity, and a commitment to service before self are what define an officer of the Indian Army,” said Lieutenant General Neeraj Varshney, VSM, Commandant of MCEME, addressing the Officer Cadets of the Technical Entry Scheme-44 during the award distribution ceremony at the Military College of Electronics and Mechanical Engineers (MCEME) in Secunderabad on Wednesday. Marking a milestone in the careers of the young cadets, the event celebrated their successful completion of military training at the Cadets Training Wing.

Calling it a moment of great pride, Lt Gen. Varshney said, “You represent the future of the Indian Army, and with that comes the responsibility to lead by example,” he said, urging them to carry forward the Army’s legacy and adhere to its values, including the revered motto of ‘Karm Hi Dharm’. He acknowledged the cadets’ dedication in areas such as sports and military training. The cadets’ achievements, he noted, were indicative of the rigorous training and the positive attitude instilled at the institution.

The ceremony saw meritorious cadets being honoured for their exceptional achievements. Wing Cadet Captain Shivraj Pradip More was awarded the GOC-in-C, ARTRAC gold Medal for being the best in the course. Wing Cadet Adjutant Eshan Luthra and Platoon Cadet Captain Yash Kumar received the GOC-in-C, ARTRAC silver and bronze Medals, respectively. Karna Platoon earned recognition as the best platoon for the Autumn term 2024 and was presented with the prestigious GOC-in-C ARTRAC Banner.

The event concluded with an interaction between Lt Gen. Varshney and the cadets’ proud parents, where he appreciated their unwavering support and sacrifices. “Behind every successful cadet is a family that has given so much for the nation’s service,” he said, expressing gratitude to the families for nurturing future leaders of the Indian Army.
