Discipline Revanth, Harish urges Kharge

Hyderabad: BRS senior leader and former minister T. Harish Rao on Thursday urged the Congress to take disciplinary action against Chief Minister A. Revanth Reddy for his “abusive, derogatory language,” and questioned Congress president Mallikarjun Kharge why his party was adopting a dual standard on this issue.

In a letter to Kharge, Harish Rao said Revanth Reddy was heaping abuse on BRS president K. Chandrashekar Rao and his family. The Congress ahd condemned BJP leaders for their inflammatory remarks against Rahul Gandhi, but these same standards are being ignored or disregarded when it cames to Revanth Reddy’s comments.

“Your silence on this matter unfortunately implies tacit approval and even encouragement of his vulgar and vile behaviour,” Harish Rao said.

The BRS leader said: “Revanth Reddy has crossed all boundaries of political decency, going so far as to cruelly and criminally state that KCR should be pelted with stones and hanged till death and many other vulgar and abuses. To add insult to injury, Revanth Reddy has even spoken about installing KCR’s statue in front of the Secretariat.” This, Harish Rao said was “not only barbaric but also criminal.”

Urging immediate, decisive, “stern disciplinary action against Revanth Reddy,” Harish Rao said if no action is taken, then what follows will “not only destroy the democratic political environment but also set dangerous, dictatorial precedents, severely undermining constitutional values and Gandhian principles.”
