Disha ‘encounter’: HC asks for all related PILs and petitions

Hyderabad: The division bench of the Telangana High Court, comprising Chief Justice Alok Aradhe and Justice J. Sreenivas Rao, directed the registry of the High Court to place all writ petitions and PILs seeking judicial or CBI probe into the alleged extrajudicial killing of the accused in Disha case and the petitions filed by police officers and others, challenging the report of the Justice V.S. Sirpurkar commission and its recommendation for action against police officers.

The division bench was dealing with the petitions and PILs filed by civil activists, unions for civil liberties and human rights and parents of the accused, who requested the court for a judicial or CBI probe into alleged killings on the pretext of cross-firing.

However, on Monday, it was informed to the bench about the stay orders passed by the single judge of the High Court, directing the government not to take coercive steps against the police officers allegedly involved in the ‘encounter’, based on the recommendations of the Justice Sirpurkar commission.

R.N. Hemendranath Reddy, senior counsel appearing for the police officers informed the bench about the stay orders and submitted that the senior counsel appearing for women's rights and people’s organization has not brought it to the notice of the court.

Advocate-General A. Sudershan Reddy informed that it would be appropriate if all the matters are clubbed together. The Court directed Hemendranath Reddy to file a memo bringing the order of the single judge for taking further action.
