DLSA organises National Lok Adalat
Hyderabad: “Rajee margame raja margamu” (Compromise is the best way forward), said Senior Civil Judge P. Aruna Kumari, secretary of the District Legal Services Authority (DLSA), on Saturday during the inauguration of the National Lok Adalat, at the Nampally Criminal Court Complex.
The DLSA (Sessions Division) organised the Lok Adalat at all criminal court premises in the city to resolve pending compoundable cases and pre-litigation cases.
A total of 1,61,069 compoundable criminal cases, including excise cases, cheque bounce cases, electricity theft cases, petty cases and traffic challan cases were resolved on Saturday. This Lok Adalat solved a higher number of cases than the last National Lok Adalat held in September, which disposed of 1,57,370 cases.
The Lok Adalat is held every three months, to help the underprivileged by resolving pending compoundable cases. To streamline the disposal of cases, 37 Lok Adalat benches were set up at various locations, including the courts at Nampally, Manoharnagar, Secunderabad, integrated court complex and at the railway court.
Speaking at the inauguration, Sessions Judge B. Suresh, Chairman of the DLSA, stressed the importance of Lok Adalats in delivering immediate and amicable resolutions to litigants.
First Additional Sessions Judge D. Ramakanth said, “The police, lawyers and litigants should strive to extend their cooperation in making Lok Adalats successful and I encourage litigants to utilise this platform to resolve pending cases, ensuring peace of mind and speedy justice.”
“The DLSA (Sessions Division) stood first in several times. In the last National Lok Adalat, Hyderabad district stood first,” stated Judge Aruna Kumari. She expressed her optimism to dispose of more cases in every Lok Adalat.
Participants included additional DCP G. Manohar, deputy director of prosecution (administration), A. Ram Reddy, the Metropolitan Criminal Courts Bar Association led by its president G. Rajavardhan Reddy.
