Drug addict steps ahead to change his life

Hyderabad: A BTech dropout, who was arrested in a joint operation by the TGNAB and the Madhapur police on Friday, along with three others for consuming ganja near Hitex, appealed to youngsters to keep themselves free of addiction.

As previously reported, the youngster, who had secured the 800th rank in the IIT-JEE and had got admission in the National Institute of Technology at Trichurappalli, dropped out in the third year after he got addicted to ganja.

The youngster was produced before the media in a press conference, where he spoke of his experiences. “I dropped out of NIT because of my drug addiction. I wanted to change my life, but couldn’t because of various factors, including being motivated by friends and several people.”

I would request everyone through the media that change your friendships if they motivate you to take drugs, because it affects people around you, including your family. Change your lives, do yoga or anything to distract yourself from doing drugs. I will from now on promise to not take any sort of drugs and in fact learn entrepreneurship.”

“Through my story, I want everyone to change. I don’t want anyone to become an addict. I’d request the youth to stay away from drugs. Say no to drugs,” he said.

After dropping out, the youngster, a native of Bowenpally, shifted to Bengaluru; his mother, who had by then discovered his ganja addiction, came to stay with him. Working as a marketing executive with a private company, he got to travel to different cities where he came in contact with drug peddlers.

He took to peddling ganja and MDMA to software employees and his friends. He was arrested by the Dundigal police here in 2022 for supplying drugs to his friend. In 2023, he was arrested by the Palakkad police of Kerala and was convicted. Despite this, and his mother falling sick, he continued with the drug habit.
