Eco-tourism Hub at Errupalem of Khammam Soon: Bhatti

Khammam: Deputy Chief Minister Mallu Bhatti Vikramarka on Tuesday said that eco-tourism would be developed in the forests of Errupalem mandal in the district which has a reputation for its flora and fauna.

Laying the foundation stone for an urban forest park at Jamalapuram, to be developed at a cost of Rs.5.83 crore, Bhatti said that forests, mountains and water bodies were wealth of society. Utilizing its geographical advantage, Errupalem would be developed as a tourism centre.

He pointed out that an ancient temple dating back to Sri Krishnadevaraya’s time was found at Jamalapuram, he said locals have been requesting for development of Jamalapuram near Errupalem.

The minister said that the tourism department had planned to set up cottages beside local ponds at Jamalapuram. He instructed officials to develop the eco-tourism park in the area. Tourism would provide direct and indirect employment to locals, he added.

Bhatti He instructed officials to complete the work of urban forest park at Jamalapuram at the earliest.

District collector Muzammil Khan, chief conservator of forest Bheema Naik and district forest officer Siddarth Vikram Singh attended the programme.
