Efforts Underway to Rescue 8 Trapped Workers Inside SLBC Tunnel: Uttam

Rescue teams will reach the site tonight to continue the efforts,Uttam Kumar Reddy said.

Hyderabad: Minister Uttam Kumar Reddy stated that the efforts are underway to rescue the workers who trapped in SLBC tunnel incident. Speaking to the media, Uttam said, “The workers entered the tunnel at 8 a.m., and at 8:30 a.m., the boring machine was activated. Water leaked from one side of the tunnel, causing the soil to sink and a loud noise to be heard. The TBM operator sensed the danger in advance."

“Immediately, 42 workers were alerted and brought out, but eight people in front of the boring machine were trapped. The government is committed to taking all necessary measures to save them. We are doing everything we can to rescue the eight trapped workers. We consulted with experts who previously rescued workers trapped in similar incidents in Uttarakhand. The trapped individuals are from Uttar Pradesh and Jharkhand. Among them are a project engineer, a field engineer, four workers, and two boring machine operators from Jammu and Kashmir and Punjab."
“The trapped workers do not have ventilation problems. However, since they are 14 kilometers inside the tunnel, the rescue operation is challenging. Rescue teams will reach the site tonight to continue the efforts,” Uttam Kumar Reddy added.
