Electric glitch causes chaos on Hyderabad metro lines
Hyderabad: Commuters faced major delays on the Nagole-Raidurg and LB Nagar-Miyapur metro lines on Monday, after a technical glitch halted services for nearly 20 minutes at about 10 am. The disruption, caused by an electric feeder malfunction, caused inconvenience to office-goers, students, and other commuters.
Trains stopped intermittently, and passengers reported problems with the doors, which remained open and failed to close properly. Additionally, severe braking on moving trains was reported, causing anxiety among those on board.
Commuters at the stations described the scene as chaotic, with large crowds building up at the platforms due to the unexpected delay. For many, the delay meant a late start to their day, leading to missed appointments and delayed arrivals at offices and schools.
“It was a very uncomfortable journey today. We had no idea how long it would take for the issue to be fixed,” said Jahnavi Vajram, a student living in Alkapuri Colony.
“I was waiting in the Victoria Memorial metro station, and there was no sight of the trains. We heard an announcement saying there is a technical issue and trains are delayed. As it was the peak hour, the station was filled with people. After the train arrived, it was still very problematic, and I was tense that I wouldn't reach on time,” she said.
Ragolu Madhulika who travels from Tarnaka to Raidurg, said: “It is usually a 40-minute ride. By the time we reached the Paradise station, we got an announcement saying there is a delay due to a technical issue. The train ride was extremely uncomfortable; it kept on braking and was not a smooth ride. It took a little over an hour to reach Raidurg.”
Metro Rail authorities, in a tweet on X, said: "We experienced a brief delay on the blue line this morning due to a technical issue… Normal operations have resumed…we regret any inconvenience caused.”
