Employees observe hunger strike at Rail Nilayam in support of pending demands
Employees submit memorandum to SCR GM to resolve demands

Hyderabad: Members of South Central Railway Mazdoor Union here on Tuesday observed a daylong hunger strike in front of Rail Nilayam in Secunderabad in support of their long-demands including pending promotion and payment of risk allowance to the staff.
Holding banners and flags, the employees raised slogans demanding the Central government to resolve their demands in view of the problems being faced by them. Addressing the employees, Union general secretary Ch Sankara Rao demanded that the government pay risk and hardship allowance to all the open line staff apart from sanctioning grade pay structure for pointsmen category.
Rao asked to grant Group B status to All Supervisory (Non-Gazetted) staff apart from increasing running allowance consequent to increase in dearness allowances by 50 per cent besides immediate payment of arrears of DA/DP withheld with effect from January 1 and July 7, 2020 and January 1, 2021 due to Covid pandemic.
Rao urged the government to create all new posts for new lines and new stations without matching savings and promotion to all categories of staff through a restructuring committee. The Railways must reduce the stipulated four years period to two years for promotions for supervisors in Level-8 and Level-9 and sanction of powers to the Railway Board without approaching the Ministry of Finance with regard to creation of posts and other staff matters.
Rao later submitted a memorandum to the South Central Railway (SCR) General Manager AK Jain and requested him to resolve them at the earliest.
