Engineering Student Killed in Rear-End Collision in Raidurgam
Hyderabad: An engineering student sitting pillion died on the spot after a car struck the bike on which she was travelling from the rear. The rider suffered severe injuries. The police suspecting overspeeding as the cause took the driver into custody.
Raidurgam sub-inspector Pranay identified the victim as K. Srivani, 21, a third year engineering student. She was a native of Kamareddy and resided in Gandipet. The injured Venkata Ramana Reddy is a senior software engineer.
Srivani attended a Class 10 get-together at Kamareddy on Sunday and reached the city in the late hours. Reddy offered to drop her at Gandipet. While they were en-route, a car rammed into the bike.
The impact was such that both riders were flung at a considerable distance. Suffering severe head injuries, Srivani died on the spot.
A police officer said, "We received a call from Dial 100 and by the time our team reached, the girl was dead. The accused driver helped in shifting the injured to the hospital, he also suffered multiple injuries and is undergoing treatment."
The driver was identified as Sai Kailesh, 19. He along with two friends was heading towards Narsingi when the accident took place.
A complaint was filed by Srivani's father on Monday morning and notices were served to the accused driver. The body was taken to Kamareddy for performing the last rites.
