Hyderabad: The Telangana State Power Engineers' Association on Sunday vehemently opposed the joint venture with Singareni Collieries Company Limited (SCCL) to set up an 800-mega watt (MW) power plant in Ramagundam.
It unanimously adopted a resolution that state-owned TG Genco must be entrusted to set up the Ramagundam power plant.
It also asked the government to give charge for setting up an 800-MW power plant in place of the old one in Palwancha, Bhadradri district, and another 800-MW power plant at Kothagudem Thermal Power Plant (stage III) to the TG Genco.
In its general body meeting, the association also demanded that the state government appoint regular chairman and managing directors (CMDs) for Transco and Genco.
Association secretary general P. Sadanandam, in a statement, said the general body demanded that the state government release the job calendar for recruitment of assistant engineers and implement the old pension scheme for all power sector employees.
It also asked the government to give promotions in Genco and power utilities from the rank of assistant engineer and upwards. The discoms must give postings to all those who got promotions recently, create and sanction new posts as per norms.
The meeting also urged the government to do justice to graduate engineers as they have not been getting fair chances in the 4:1 ratio stipulated between engineers and diploma engineers while giving promotions.
Sadanandam also urged the state government to appoint directors in the power companies.
Associate president A. Venkatnarayan Reddy, additional secretary general K. Anjaiah, chief adviser M. Shivashankar, TGSPDCL union secretary J.L. Janapriya, TGNPDCL union secretary Soumya Nayak, TG Genco union secretary N. Suresh Kumar and others took part in the general body meeting.
