Every Farmer Will Get Rs 10,000 per Acre for Crop Damage: Uttam

Suryapet: Irrigation minister N. Uttam Kumar Reddy on Tuesday made it clear that Rs 10,000 per acre relief would be extended to farmers whose crops were damaged, after visiting Huzurnagar town and Burugudda in the district to see for himself the havoc wrought by heavy rain and floods.

He visited houses in the first ward of Huzurnagar municipality which were submerged in floodwater and interacted with residents. He assured them that Rs 10,000 would be extended to them as immediate relief.

The minister instructed officials to take up repairs to the drainage system that was damaged by overflowing water from the Daddanala cheruvu in Huzurnagar.

Uttam Kumar Reddy said that the officials had not taken into consideration his suggestion as an MP that the wrong planning of the drainage system at mini tank bund would create problems. Houses in Shivalayam street in the seventh ward of Huzurnagar was submerged due to the wrong design of the drainage system, he said.

He directed district collector Tejas Nandlal Pawar over phone to suspend assistant engineer K Srinivas. He directed chief engineer (irrigation) Ramesk Kumar to take up repairing of breaches to the irrigation tanks in Huzurnagar constituency.

Uttam Kumar Reddy visited the office of agricultural cooperative society of Huzurnagar and examined the fertiliser stocks which were soaked in rain. He examined the damaged roads at Mattampally crossroads.
